The AK bayonet is a multi-purpose tool: a fighting knife, a wire cutter (when mated with the scabbard), and a close-quarters weapon. Romanian AK bayonets feature a single-edged blade with a sharpened back edge near the tip, a polymer or wood grip, and a lug that mounts to the AK’s bayonet mount. The scabbard includes a wire-cutting notch that works with the bayonet’s crossguard. These were standard issue for Romanian military forces during the Cold War era.
